Team Rafako Hussars Poland was formed by a group of Stand4Theme Promotions and is managed by Jaroslaw Kołkowski, with coaching overseen by Zbigniew Raubo. The newly formed team Hussars Poland is expected to be the basis for the Polish National Team whose main goal is the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Hussars Poland aims to achieve to spark the rebirth of boxing in teh country.
„Hussars” was a name of a cavalry units used by many European armies and was chosen after a nationwide competition. In the 16th and 17th centuries, hussars formed an elite part of the Polish army. The most renowned divisions consisted of heavy armed horsemen wearing distinctive wings on their backs. They were a symbol of Poland’s greatness. Hussars were the elite just like the boxers of the team.
The 15 boxers of the squad are Poles, current and past representatives of Poland at the Olympic Games and international elite competitions.
